An Open Letter

These past few days I've received a number of e-mails and have seen comments from individuals who read here regularly, from some who are new to the site and from one who has decided they should no longer participate here.

The e-mails and comments contain a variety of good points:

We are nitpicking.
We are being mean, vengeful and shallow.
We are speculating heavily.
We are taking things too far; there's a difference between discussing inconsistencies and tearing someone down.
We are losing our ability to affect change in people's minds and Jennifer's life and our credibility, because so many choose to be rude, disgusting and to spawn lies.

They also ask questions:

At what point has Jennifer McKinney 'paid enough'?
How much does she have to lose for it to be enough?
How much hate is there for an internet blogger and when will it end?
What now is the purpose of MWOP? What is next?

It's important to occasionally take a step back and critique our presence here. Readers have a variety of reasons for being here, but we should maintain the same goal of keeping Jennifer McKinney accountable for her actions and pointing out her many inconsistencies, spin and outright lies.

We can't do that if we are caught up in heavy speculation and snark about that speculation. It becomes a huge distraction and drives potential readers away. Gossip sites are venues for rumor and speculation and all the accompanying nastiness. We should not stoop so low.

Comments were allowed on the original MWOP to provide a place for those to speak out who were censored or outright banned from Jennifer's sites. While there are readers here who have been censored and banned, there are also many readers who were never particularly invested in Jennifer McKinney or her sites. It's important that no matter where we're coming from we keep the comments civil.

To that end please think about visitors when commenting and please leave the children out of it, especially speculation. If the Terms of Use needs to be amended in any way or needs clarification feel free to start that discussion in the comments as well; feedback is always welcome. As always please flag any comments that you feel are out of line with the commenting policy in general or the TOU specifically.

Thank you.
